This video demonstrates multiple approaches for mechanically testing soft gels using the CellScale MicroTester (formerly the MicroSquisher) testing system.
Using agar agar gel as a model material, three testing methods are shown: cylindrical specimen compression, spherical specimen compression, and indentation testing with a spherical probe. Each method is used to measure force and displacement and calculate stress–strain behavior, resulting in a consistent modulus value of approximately 12 kPa across all three techniques.
By comparing different test geometries and loading conditions, this demonstration highlights how the MicroTester can be used to characterize soft gels and validate mechanical properties using complementary testing approaches.
