Hydrogel Microsphere Parallel-Plate Compression Test Demonstration

Tutorials & Demonstrations
Quick Overview:
Step-by-step demonstration of parallel-plate compression testing on hydrogel microspheres using the MicroTester.

This video demonstrates the procedure for performing parallel-plate compression testing on sub-millimeter hydrogel microspheres using the CellScale MicroTester (formerly MicroSquisher) testing system.

The demonstration covers sample handling, optical setup, specimen sizing, probe positioning, and execution of a displacement-controlled compression test. Real-time force, displacement, and image feedback are used to characterize microsphere deformation in the millinewton force range.

This technique is commonly used for characterizing soft microscale materials such as hydrogels and polymer microspheres.
