RESEARCH SUMMARY
This study presents a highly conductive, mechanically robust, and fully bioresorbable tungsten-based conductive paste designed for transient implantable electronics. By combining tungsten microparticles with a beeswax–glycofurol matrix, the authors achieved isotropic electrical conductivity exceeding 7 kS/m while maintaining softness, flexibility, and controlled degradation in physiological environments. Comprehensive electrical, mechanical, and biocompatibility testing demonstrates that the paste can function as an interconnect material in bioresorbable sensors, wireless stimulators, and implantable electronic systems without inducing cytotoxic or inflammatory responses.

CELLSCALE INSTRUMENT USED

UniVert

Mechanical characterization of the bioresorbable conductive paste was performed using a CellScale universal testing system. Compression testing quantified the compressive strength and strain behavior of the paste under uniaxial loading following ASTM D695. Flexural and bending properties were evaluated using three-point bending tests in accordance with ASTM D790 to assess flexibility and resistance to fracture. Peel testing was conducted to measure adhesion performance of the paste on polymeric and metallic substrates relevant to implantable electronic assemblies.
