RESEARCH SUMMARY
This study developed silk sericin-functionalized collagen–fibrin hydrogels mimicking bone ECM. Sericin enhanced calcium binding and hydroxyapatite formation, increasing stiffness and promoting osteogenic differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells.

The CellScale UniVert measured tensile strength and modulus of collagen–fibrin–sericin hydrogels, revealing that sericin incorporation significantly increased stiffness and strength, validating functionalization-induced mechanical enhancement.
